Nilan Johnson Lewis Attorney Awarded Highest Law Honor
MINNEAPOLIS (July 6, 2015) – Nilan Johnson Lewis law firm announces that Joe Schmitt has been elected as a Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. The College recognizes the leading lawyers nationwide in the practice of labor and employment law. Schmitt is one of only 27 Fellows in the state of Minnesota, and the only Minnesotan to be elected into the class of 2015.
Schmitt has served in Nilan Johnson Lewis’ labor and employment group for the past 18 years, both as shareholder and previous chair, defending employers in litigation and advising them in a range of federal and state legal matters ranging from discrimination cases and employment assessments to whistleblowing and wage and hour compliance.
Election as a Fellow into the College is the highest honor that can be accorded a lawyer practicing in the area of labor and employment law, and is based on the College’s esteemed principles of civility and professionalism. Members must have been in the industry for at least 20 years; sustain a commitment to providing exceptionally high-quality services to clients, bar, bench and public; and demonstrate character, integrity, professional expertise, and leadership for the support of the law profession.
