Nilan Johnson Lewis Recognized by Law360 as a Top Law Firm for Female Attorneys

The national statistics are troubling—according to Law360’s Glass Ceiling Report, only 33 percent of all attorneys and 22 percent of partners at U.S. law firms are women. It is within this context that Nilan Johnson Lewis is proud to be ranked highly (16th) on Law360’s inaugural list of the 100 best U.S. law firms for female attorneys. The firm is also recognized as a Law360 Ceiling Smasher, a ranking that highlights 25 firms that have made significant strides toward gender equality by hiring or promoting a large percentage of female shareholders. Nilan Johnson Lewis is ranked sixth on that list, and the highest of any firm in Minnesota, with 39 percent of its shareholders being women.

Women currently make up 45 percent of Nilan Johnson Lewis lawyers. Diversity is one of the firm’s core values, and it shows: the firm recently announced its election of three women as shareholders, all of whom had been on maternity leave within a year of being voted to shareholder.

The firm is proud to be recognized as a top firm for women, and will continue to make strides to ensure a diverse workplace.

About the Law360 Top 100 Firms for Female Attorneys

The top law firms ranking is based on four factors: 1) the percentage of partners, both equity and nonequity, who are women; 2) the percentage of nonpartners who are women; 3) the split between the firm’s female partner percentage and female nonpartner percentage; and 4) the number of female attorneys at the firm. More than 300 firms were surveyed for the ranking.
