Nilan Johnson Lewis Welcomes Joel Andersen to Its National Labor & Employment Team
MINNEAPOLIS (June 30, 2017) – Minneapolis-based law firm Nilan Johnson Lewis welcomes Joel Andersen to its national labor and employment practice group. Andersen joins the firm effective immediately.

With more than 13 years as a litigator, Andersen advises clients in all types of employment and wage-and-hour litigation, with extensive experience litigating in California. His business-driven guidance helps clients across the full life-cycle of employment, from recruiting and performance management to workplace investigations and post-employment restrictive covenants. His notable achievements include a multimillion-dollar settlement for breach of non-solicitation agreement, tortious interference and misappropriation of trade secrets; and winning summary judgment for a retail grocer in disability discrimination and Family and Medical Leave Act litigation.
Prior to joining Nilan Johnson Lewis, Andersen served as a labor and employment partner with a national Minnesota-based law firm since 2006. He also held three clerkships: U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, Honorable William J. Riley; U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, Honorable David R. Thompson; and the District of Nevada, Honorable Robert A. McQuaid, Jr.
Andersen graduated cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School where he was Associate Editor of University of Michigan Law Review. Andersen was also recognized by the Minnesota State Bar Association as a “North Star Lawyer” for providing 50 hours or more of pro bono legal services in 2013, 2014, and 2016.
