Human Resource Executive Online asked Nilan Johnson Lewis Shareholder David James, “Is that degree really necessary?” The resulting article highlighted a recent EEOC discussion letter on the disparate impact of education requirements in job postings and hiring criteria. • Does an education requirement help identify candidates who would be successful in this job?
  • Does an education requirement have a distinct purpose, or is including it in the posting merely the status quo?
