Event: Religion at Work – From Accommodation to Inclusion

On June 1, 2015, the U.S. Supreme Court issued its decision in EEOC v. Abercrombie & Fitch, a case involving issues of religious discrimination and religious accommodations in the workplace.

Employment law attorney Veena Iyer has been following the case closely and advising clients on the impact on employers and their businesses. Through the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits, Veena is speaking on a panel, where they will educate attendees on how nonprofit employers can comply with the law.

Attendees will leave the training with:

  • An overview of the laws related to religion and the workplace
  • Practical tips on handling requests for situations in which an employee’s religious practices conflict with work obligations
  • Strategies for creating a workplace that is welcoming for employees of all beliefs

The event will take place on Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at the offices of Nilan Johnson Lewis. For more information on the event or to register, visit minnesotanonprofits.org.
