Midwest Society of Association Executives Publishes Article by Veena Iyer on Volunteer Liability Issues for Nonprofits
Nilan Johnson Lewis attorney Veena Iyer recently published an article in Focus, the Midwest Society of Association Executives (MSAE) newsletter. In her article, Iyer discusses liability issues that nonprofits face when using volunteers. She specifically addresses the scope of the federal Volunteer Protection Act (VPA), in addition to state laws that apply to organizations in the Upper Midwest.
The MSAE serves as the ‘association for associations’ in the Midwest. Its mission is to advance and serve associations in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota. The organization provides professional development, continuing education, career growth, and networking with other association professionals. MSAE is a community of more than 1,000 association members from nearly 300 Midwest associations.
