Mobile Apps, Telehealth and Telemedicine: Addressing Legal Risks and Barriers

Access to healthcare services through technological means is on the rise – a 2013 report by Forbes set forth a prediction that “the U.S. telehealth market will grow to $1.9 billion in 2018 from $240 million [in 2013], an annual growth rate of 56%.” This session will review examples of currently available apps, telehealth, and telemedicine services, applicable law (federal and Minnesota) and legislation trends in other states, and the legal issues that medical providers and their counsel will need to address in this area.
