Nilan Johnson Lewis Expands Its Commercial Litigation Practice with Three New Lawyers
New attorneys bring over 80 years of combined legal services experience
MINNEAPOLIS (July 12, 2016) – Minneapolis-based law firm Nilan Johnson Lewis is pleased to announce the addition of Douglas (Doug) Elsass, Terence (Terry) Fruth, and Lori Johnson to its Commercial Litigation group. Elsass joins the firm as a shareholder. He will continue to focus his practice on contract, shareholder, partnership, and other complex business disputes in both trial and arbitration settings. Fruth joins as Of Counsel, assisting the group in litigation matters involving business torts, class actions, real estate disputes, and more. Johnson joins the firm as a staff attorney, working on several ongoing litigation matters.

Bringing more than 25 years of experience, Elsass has represented clients in a variety of business disputes. In addition to his focus on shareholder, partnership, contract, and business competition disputes, he also has considerable experience in health care business disputes and government administrative litigation.
Elsass currently serves as chair of the Civil Litigation Section of the Minnesota State Bar Association. He is a past president of the Minnesota Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, and former member of the Federal Practice Committee appointed by the United States District Court. He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School, and also holds a Master’s degree in Public Affairs from the University of Minnesota. His undergraduate degree is from Miami University of Ohio.
Terence (Terry) Fruth
Fruth brings more than 40 years of experience in business litigation to Nilan Johnson Lewis, with extensive knowledge in a wide range of business disputes, including shareholder, health care, securities, and employment matters.
Fruth received his J.D. from the University of Minnesota and his undergraduate degree from St. John’s University.
Lori Johnson
With 15 years of experience, Johnson has represented clients in a wide range of business disputes, including securities and shareholder litigation. Her practice includes cases litigated in state and federal courts. She also has considerable experience litigating nationwide complex class actions on behalf of consumers and shareholders, including appeals.
Johnson earned her J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School, and undergraduate degree from Concordia College – Moorhead.
