Nilan Johnson Lewis Hires New Associate, Mai Lee Yang
MINNEAPOLIS (November 4, 2019) – Minneapolis law firm Nilan Johnson Lewis announces it has added Mai Lee Yang as an associate, effective immediately. Yang brings more than five years of legal services experience to the firm. Her practice has focused on assisting health care companies, providers, insurers and plans, as well as medical device manufacturers, clinical laboratories and other clients with compliance and transaction needs involving federal and state laws, regulations and sub-regulatory guidance.
In addition to providing compliance-focused legal advice, Yang offers consultative business services to clients. She has performed independent evaluations of compliance program effectiveness, has conducted mock audits and has guided clients through government audits.
“Mai Lee’s vast knowledge of health care laws and compliance matters, coupled with her experience structuring related programs and policies for clients throughout the health care continuum, makes her an exceptional addition to the firm,” said Heidi Christianson, president of Nilan Johnson Lewis. “We’re excited to have her aboard.”
Yang received her J.D. from Michell Hamline School of Law, where she has also received certificates for health law and health care compliance and volunteers as a health law compliance mentor. She graduated summa cum laude with a degree in English and linguistics from the University of Minnesota-Duluth.
Yang is the president and a past board member for the Hmong American Bar Association. She also sits on the board of directors for NeighborWorks Home Partners and is an active member of the Minnesota State Bar Association’s Health Law Section and the Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA).
