MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (July 30, 2018) – Nilan Johnson Lewis is proud to announce shareholder Veena Iyer, an attorney in the labor and employment practice area, has been named a “Minnesota Lawyer Diversity & Inclusion” honoree.
This is the second year Minnesota Lawyer has given out the awards, which “honor those in the legal profession that go above and beyond in their efforts to create a more diverse and inclusionary community.” In her role as shareholder at the firm, Iyer has promoted the recruitment and advancement of diversity, especially attorneys of color, and currently serves as chair of the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Working Group. She has served as president of the Minnesota Asian Pacific American Bar Association, as well as taking on the role of local and national committee member and advisory board member.
Recently, Iyer also received the “Service to MWL Award” from Minnesota Women Lawyers, recognizing that Iyer’s efforts during the past program year contributed substantially to advance MWL’s mission.
“Veena has been a champion for diversity within our firm and within the Minnesota legal community, and we are thrilled that her dedication to these important issues is being recognized through this award,” said Stephen Warch, president of Nilan Johnson Lewis.
