Webinar: Machine Learning and Big Data Analytics for Hiring

Mark Girouard, employment attorney and shareholder at Nilan Johnson Lewis, and Eric Sydell, vice president of Research and Innovation at Shaker, will present the complimentary webinar, “Machine Leaning Pitfalls and the Perils of Big Data Hiring Analytics,” on Tuesday, December 13, 2016.

Details

Increasingly, today’s employers rely on big data solutions—from resume screens to social media search tools—to source, recruit, and hire employees. While big data has the potential to reduce recruiting costs and streamline hiring, these tools also present a host of legal and other business risks. For example, a seemingly neutral algorithm could actually create or perpetuate discrimination based on protected characteristics. Before implementing these tools, employers need to understand how big data impacts the candidate selection process and how to recognize hidden risks that may exist.

In this complimentary webinar, Girouard and Sydell will explore how big data is changing the pre-employment selection landscape. Through their discussion, they will examine the risks and explain how traditional assessment validation methods can be used to enhance the legal defensibility of these tools. Sydell and Girouard will also discuss job analysis and related techniques that can improve return on investment and reduce legal risk. Session attendees will learn what questions to ask big data vendors, how to sort the science from the snake-oil, and ways to ensure that risks are being managed, while also gaining insights into future hiring trends.
