Courtney Blanchard Joins Nilan Johnson Lewis’ Labor and Employment Practice

MINNEAPOLIS (May 3, 2016) – Minneapolis-based law firm Nilan Johnson Lewis is pleased to announce that Courtney Blanchard has joined its labor and employment practice group as an associate. She will work in all areas of the practice, including counseling, and single-plaintiff and class litigation.

Blanchard complements her legal training and experience with strong writing skills she honed during a prior career as a court and legislative reporter in several markets.

Prior to getting her law degree, she was a political, courts, and crime reporter for the Telegraph Herald in Dubuque, Iowa, a staff writer for the Minnesota House of Representative publication Session Weekly, and a night police reporter for the Star Tribune. During law school, Blanchard served as a judicial extern to the Honorable John. R. Tunheim at the United States District Court for Minnesota. Following law school, Blanchard served as a law clerk to the Honorable Matthew E. Johnson at the Minnesota Court of Appeals.

“Courtney has a unique background in reporting and possesses strong writing and investigational skills that we’re excited to add to our labor and employment team,” said Stephen Warch, president of Nilan Johnson Lewis.

Blanchard is a graduate of the William Mitchell College of Law, where she was a finalist for the Burton Award for Excellence in Legal Writing. She served as a staff member for the William Mitchell Law Review, and competed in numerous moot court competitions. She received her undergraduate degree in journalism from the University of Minnesota, where she was an editor and reporter for the Minnesota Daily.
