Nilan Johnson Lewis Continues to Grow with Three New Associates
Nilan Johnson Lewis (NJL), a fiercely independent law firm working to redefine the standards of legal services and a preferred employer of talented and diverse legal professionals, grows its attorney bench to its highest number since the firm’s founding with three new hires. This milestone comes less than two years after NJL received Women-Owned Business certification and became one of the largest law firms in the U.S. to carry that designation.
The three new hires will contribute to the firm’s nationally regarded Labor and Employment and Products Liability practices, which provide employers with strategic preventive counsel and represent them in a wide range of litigation and administrative agency matters as well as defense of product liability and complex tort claims.

Claire Pritchard-Gutknecht
Pritchard-Gutknecht joins the firm as an Associate attorney in the Labor and Employment group after serving as a judicial law clerk for a Minnesota Supreme Court justice and a Minnesota Court of Appeals judge. Pritchard-Gutknecht graduated cum laude from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a B.A. in Criminal Justice and Psychology. She received her J.D. summa cum laude from Mitchell Hamline School of Law.
Cody Humpherys
Humpherys also joins the Labor and Employment team as an Associate attorney. Admitted to the California bar, he most recently worked for a labor and employment law firm in Irvine, California, where he represented businesses in employment litigation and counseling matters. Humpherys received his undergraduate degree in communications from Brigham Young University and his J.D. cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School.
Andrew Sako
Sako will support NJL’s Product Liability practice group after serving as a summer associate at the firm in 2022. Sako also clerked for the Minnesota Judicial Branch. Sako received his B.A. in Political Science with distinction from the University of Minnesota and earned his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law.
