Nilan Johnson Lewis Elects New President
Stephen Warch takes over the reins from Matthew Damon
MINNEAPOLIS (January 13, 2015)—Nilan Johnson Lewis PA is pleased to announce that Stephen Warch has been elected president of the law firm, effective January 1, 2015.
Warch takes over the presidency from Matthew Damon, who, during his five-year tenure, launched and led the firm’s “Total Partnership” program, designed to ensure the firm provides exceptional results for its clients. He was also instrumental in helping Nilan Johnson Lewis to be listed as one of Working Mother & Flex-time Lawyers’ “50 Best Law Firms for Women” and named the first outside law firm “Value Champion” by the Association of Corporate Counsel. Damon remains with the firm as a shareholder practicing in the firm’s labor and employment group.

Warch is past chair of the firm’s Health Care group, where his practice focuses on representing insurers, providers and other health care organizations in compliance, transactional and regulatory matters.
Warch’s career has included time as a Deputy General Counsel with UnitedHealthcare; and as an Assistant Attorney General with the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office, where he managed the Commerce and Charities divisions.
Warch has served on the governing council of the Minnesota State Bar Association’s Health Law Section and has been an adjunct professor at the University of Minnesota Law School and William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul. He received his J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School and holds a B.A. degree from Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa. He and his wife have two children and reside in St Paul.
