Nilan Johnson Lewis Welcomes Prominent Employment Attorney Judy Langevin

LANGEVIN BRINGS TREMENDOUS EXPERIENCE TO ONE OF THE LARGEST CERTIFIED WOMEN-OWNED LAW FIRMS

MINNEAPOLIS (June 26, 2023) — Nilan Johnson Lewis (NJL), among the largest certified women-owned law firms in the country, announces the addition of Judy Langevin to its successful labor and employment practice. With an impressive track record as one of Minnesota’s longest-practicing women attorneys, Langevin will advise and provide litigation and mediation services for employers in a wide range of matters, including pre- and post-employment issues, individual or group terminations, whistleblower allegations, wage and hour issues, and a host of discrimination claims including sexual harassment and disability discrimination.

“I have always had deep admiration for Nilan Johnson Lewis, and there’s no better labor and employment bench than the one that exists here,” said Langevin, who has previously collaborated with NJL in co-counsel roles. “The firm’s commitment to excellence in employment law and its dedication to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion perfectly align with my own principles, and I’m excited to contribute to its continued success.”

“Judy is a zealous client advocate who leverages her wealth of employment law knowledge to help organizations deal with disputes and avoid new ones from developing,” said Amanda Cialkowski, Nilan Johnson Lewis president. “She’ll fit right into the firm and our work, and her experience as a successful female law firm leader bolsters our nationally unique position as a certified women-owned firm.”

Langevin’s extensive law firm career spans over 40 years, during which she held management positions, chaired practice groups and served as an adjunct faculty member with the William Mitchell College of Law for more than a decade. Prior to her time in private practice, she worked in enforcement roles within the Human Rights Departments for both the City of St. Paul and State of Minnesota— invaluable public service experience as the field of employment law began to take root.

With a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of California, Berkeley and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Minnesota Law School, Langevin has consistently earned recognition for her exceptional legal skills. She has been perennially selected for inclusion in “The Best Lawyers in America” and “Super Lawyers” lists since 1993. Other accolades include the Minnesota State Bar Association Professional Excellence Award (1990), Minnesota Lawyers Myra Bradwell Award (2004), and Hennepin County Bar Association Diversity Award (2010).

A resident of Medina, Langevin resides on a hobby farm with her beloved family, 2 dogs, 3 cats, 2 horses, and her charming but somber rescue donkey, Henry.
