New shareholder will focus on technology contracts and IP

MINNEAPOLIS (April 1, 2016) – Minneapolis-based law firm Nilan Johnson Lewis is pleased to announce that Katheryn “Kate” Andresen has joined its business transactions/real estate group. Kate will continue to focus her practice on corporate matters, including technology contracts, intellectual property, and privacy and security.

Kate brings more than 20 years of experience of information technology law, eCommerce law, intellectual property, and corporate law to the firm. Prior to law school, she was a systems engineer, designing and coding software applications, and has since applied that knowledge when representing both start-ups and Fortune 500 corporate technology companies. In addition to assisting her clients with technology licensing and other transactional needs, Kate also focuses on regulated entities subject to federal privacy regulations such as HIPAA and the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act.

A frequent author and lecturer on the topic of technology law, both national and internationally, Ms. Andresen is also a member of the Minnesota State Bar and its Computer & Technology Law Section, American Bar Association and its Science & Technology Section, and the Information Technology Law Association.

Ms. Andresen is a graduate of the University of Minnesota School of Law, and completed her graduate studies in Advanced International Law Studies through the McGeorge School of Law’s international studies in Salzburg, Austria. She earned her M.A. in International Relations at Boston University, and completed her undergraduate studies at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, earning a B.A. with honors in Political Science and History.
