NJL People: Jeffrey D. Wohl

Jeffrey Wohl is a highly experienced employment attorney who advises employers on the full spectrum of California and federal employment law matters. He brings decades of experience representing national and regional companies across industries, including technology, biotechnology, financial services, and retail.

Jeff focuses his practice on employment litigation and counseling, with deep experience handling complex California and national matters involving wage-and-hour, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, privacy, and related class and individual actions. He is known for providing practical, business-focused guidance while helping clients navigate high-stakes disputes.

Before joining NJL, Jeff served as a partner and chair of the San Francisco employment law practice at his former firm, where he was also one of the leaders of the firm’s national class and collective action practice. In that role, he represented employers in some of the most challenging and high-profile employment matters nationwide.

In addition to his litigation practice, Jeff is an accredited mediator with the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California and regularly serves as a private mediator, leveraging his extensive experience to help parties resolve employment disputes efficiently and constructively.

Jeff is a frequent writer and speaker on employment law topics and has regularly presented to organizations such as the National Employment Law Institute, the American Bar Association, the Society for Human Resource Management, the Practicing Law Institute, and the California Continuing Education of the Bar.

Jeff is recognized nationally for his employment law work and has been listed in Best Lawyers for Employment Law and Labor and Employment Litigation, Chambers USA for Labor and Employment in California, and The Legal 500 United States for Labor and Employment Disputes. He is a Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers.

He is also actively involved in pro bono and community service.  Jeff served for several years on the board of United Way of the Bay Area and as its General Counsel and Chief Ethics Officer, and provides pro bono legal services to Bay Area schools serving children with special needs.
