Sara Lewenstein Joins Employment Team at NJL

Minneapolis, MN—Minnesota-based national law firm Nilan Johnson Lewis (NJL) welcomes Sara Lewenstein as an associate to the Labor and Employment practice group. Sara joins the firm with comprehensive employment-related litigation experience, focusing her work on defending employers against claims of discrimination, claims of retaliation under complex whistleblower statutes, and claims of defamation, tortious interference, and breach of contract. Sara also brings industry-specific experience supporting K-12 and higher education institutions in Title IX litigation and advising on student affairs and faculty governance issues.

Sara clerked for the University of Minnesota Office of the General Counsel and was a judicial extern for The Honorable Susan Richard Nelson. She earned her law degree through the University of Minnesota Law School in 2018, where she graduated magna cum laude and was elected to the Order of the Coif. Sara obtained a B.A. in Political Science and Jewish Studies at Wellesley College in MA.

Alongside her private practice, Sara is passionate about working on pro bono matters. She is a member of the National Association of University and College Attorneys, National LGBT Bar Association, and the Minnesota Lavender Bar Association.
