Nilan Johnson Lewis Named a Best Law Firm for Female Attorneys
MINNEAPOLIS (June 2018) – Nilan Johnson Lewis (NJL) is proud to announce that it has again been named to Law 360’s “Best Law Firms for Female Attorneys” list, a ranking published as part of the news organization’s annual Glass Ceiling report. The firm placed No. 18 among U.S. legal services firms employing at least 20 but fewer than 150 lawyers.
At the time of the firm’s award submission, 37 percent of its shareholders (partners) and 43 percent of its attorneys were female, far exceeding the national averages of less than 23 percent of partners and just over 33 percent of all private attorneys being women.[1] In addition, women comprise 60 percent of NJL’s board, and three of the firm’s five practice groups are chaired by women.

This is the third time NJL has been named to Law360’s list of top firms for female attorneys. To tally its list, Law360 collects data directly from law firms at the beginning of each calendar year and omits any firms with below-average female representation at any level of seniority. In addition to its repeat appearances in Law360’s list, Nilan Johnson Lewis has been honored three times by Minnesota Women Lawyers, receiving its prestigious leadership award in 2001, 2010 and 2016 for work enhancing the status, influence and effectiveness of female attorneys. Over the course of the professional association’s 25-year history, no other firm has received the leadership award as often.
